Who we are
Southampton Sailing Club has been in its current location since 1957 and in existence in various configurations and locations since
1910.
The club has a rich history and a longstanding tradition of excellence in sailing.
Over the decades, we’ve grown into a welcoming and diverse community where sailors of all levels can share their passion for the sea.
Our club is renowned for its strong sense of camaraderie, commitment to sportsmanship, and respect for the maritime environment.
We host a range of activities, from competitive races to relaxed social sails, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
With a family atmosphere and great access to the Solent, Southampton Sailing Club is the perfect place to sail whether your interest is
learning to sail, dinghies, cruisers, pleasure sailing , racing ,or just for the social side of the club
The aim of the club is to offer an affordable and active club with a relaxed, friendly and welcoming atmosphere, promoting sailing, and
other waterborne pursuits and enabling community activities. To this end, the club works with all it’s members to provide a range of
facilities and activities that support this aim.
Our club house sits in an enviable position on Weston Shore, equally perfect for access to the Solent, ports and harbours along the
south coast. Develop your experience close to the shore or venture to the Isle of Wight and beyond.
We try to maintain a relaxed and informal approach to both the social and the sailing side of club activities we are also an RYA approved
training centre offering both dinghy and powerboat level 2 training. Developing a fleet of dinghies for loan to members, these include
RS Quest dinghies, Wayfarers and GP14s.
If you are thinking of progressing from a dinghy to a cruiser, we also have a Foxcub cruiser available to borrow. It’s a small boat simple
to sail, and provides a good platform to explore owning your first boat before making a major investment.
